What Is Peptide Synthesis?
Peptide synthesis is the process of forming a peptide bond between two amino acids to form a peptide sequence. It involves coupling the carboxyl group of one amino acid to the amino group of another amino acid through the formation of a peptide bond. The synthesis of peptides is mainly divided into chemical synthesis of peptides and biosynthesis of peptides. The LPPS method requires careful manipulation of protecting groups and multiple challenging post-treatments and separations, and is more suitable for shorter peptide and fragment synthesis. The SPPS method is currently the most commonly used peptide synthesis method, which uses resin as a protecting group to greatly simplify the separation and purification process of the product. Typical SPPS strategies include Boc peptide synthesis, Fmoc peptide synthesis, etc.
